What's the story behind your username?

I was looking for something that looked harmless to the casual observer, but had a darker meaning underlying it. Cobalt is "a brittle hard silvery-white metallic element used in alloys Symbol: Co". The name 'cobalt' came to be because in Middle High German kobolt means "goblin". The miners believed that goblins placed it in the silver ore. I haven't done much research into this, but it seems to me that 'goblins' imply difficulties and maybe death.
The mist was just to soften it up.

Thank you for your responses to last night's entry. I still don't know what to say. Sometimes it's all too easy to forget how good people can be.

I could scream and no one would hear.
I have to apologize for anyone still reading my lj. It only took me something like three months to figure out why none of the journals were getting updated on my little friendjournalthingy. Whatever you call it. So now I've got tons of journal entries to catch up on. And I will respond.

lol. "I'll get better about this".... riiiiight. It's been two weeks. Imadork. I know.

In the mean time, I would like to invite you all to join goodreads.com. (Oh goodness I'm forgetting all the coding I used to know.) My profile is listed under the name Tpiac. If you're an avid reader, it's fun and makes keeping track of book lists easier. I'm still building up my library, but hey. Work in progress, right?

The person who hooked me on goodreads, also created a web series called The Guild. Ever heard of it? I'm sure some of you have, but for those who haven't and are interested, you can find it on youtube or at the previous link on their official website. I might just stuff the first episode in a media embed at the end of this post so you don't have to go to the effort. It's a geeky comedy sorta thing.

Well, I've got books to read, pictures to download, movies to watch, music to listen to, a dog to walk and train, and other people to terrorize so... off I go.

Watch it by clicking on the picture! It's only up and free until Saturday and then you need to either buy it on itunes (which you can do now) or buy the DVD which will soon be available with what is said to be a kick-ass set of special features. (Including a singing commentary!)

P.S. The Whedons flippin' RULE!

Okay, so all I'd be able to attend of Middle Con would be Sunday pretty much. I'd still like to go but my escort is very reluctant. I guess I'm just looking for votes here people. The situation will probably never change very much seeing as how I can't/shouldn't attend between Friday sundown and Saturday sundown, and I bet this is as close (location-wise) as a con will ever be--if you want to factor that into your responses.

People say....

.... ah forget it. People say a lot of things.

In the meantime, this is part one of five and *I* say it's awesome. Sweet little charity one-night performance.

I'm bored. Well, sort of. I got my wisdom teeth removed this morning and aside from watching movies with my sister (seriously limiting what I can watch) and icing my jaw I get to do nothing. "Take it easy". Mom keeps insisting on waiting on me so I can't even get up to get food or water or anything if she can help it. It's sweet, but I feel a little pathetic.

Tomorrow I have more recoup, an eye exam, and (hopefully) a canine good citizen class for me and my dog with dog trainer Deb Krsnich. If all works the way it should, this means I can take him to places like nursing homes and hospitals.

Oooo! I got to play with her latest litter of Munsterlander puppies. 11 five-week old puppies and I have pictures!

Massive Picspam!Collapse )

^^^Two and a half hours and a sunburn for that? So worth it.
